{"id":7940,"date":"2025-12-24T00:55:16","date_gmt":"2025-12-24T00:55:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/blog\/?p=7940"},"modified":"2026-01-05T14:49:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T14:49:11","slug":"wordpress-updated-and-recipes-added","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/blog\/index.php\/2025\/12\/24\/wordpress-updated-and-recipes-added\/","title":{"rendered":"WordPress updated and recipes added"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Just a quick note to note that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/blog\">www.malak.ca blog<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The WordPress on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/blog\">malak.ca<\/a> was updated from 6.8.3 to 6.9;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\">Food \/ recipes:<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The following new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\">recipes<\/a> were added to my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\">collection<\/a>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsgoatcheeseomelette.pdf\">goat cheese omelettes<\/a>, which is effectively an evolution of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldshamandcheeseomelette.pdf\">ham and cheese omelettes<\/a> I used to make for Mom; I started making goat cheese omelettes after Mom preferred a goat cheese omelette my brother bought for her at a high-end pastry shop and bakery;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsgoatcheesemuffins.pdf\">goat cheese muffins<\/a>, an addition (developed at my mom&#8217;s behest, after having one of my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsgoatcheeseomelette.pdf\">goat cheese omelettes<\/a>) to my growing collection of muffin recipes that I serve to my mom, to cater to her evolving tastes;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsscallopedpotatoes.pdf\">scalloped potatoes<\/a>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>20260105 updated:  My <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldslasagne.pdf\">lasagne<\/a> recipe was added yesterday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\">recipes<\/a> were updated:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsstewedapples.pdf\">stewed apples<\/a>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsenglishtoffeechocolatebuttercrunch.pdf\">chocolate buttercrunch (&#8220;English Toffee&#8221;)<\/a>; along with among other things generally updating the recipe text, a section was added stressing the importance of and outlining the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mise_en_place\">mise-en-place<\/a> <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/blog\/miseenplacewikipedia.pdf\">here&#8217;s my archive<\/a>) that I find to be crucial to this recipe (as in, &#8220;<em>of course mise-en-place is always a good practice and a good idea and really helpful when cooking, <strong>however in the case of this recipe, mise-en-place is essential to the success of, and simply, the execution of this recipe<\/strong><\/em>&#8220;);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsplaincake.pdf\">plain cake<\/a>, mostly adding for the addition of the optional use of fruit and stewed fruit, the use of either a loaf pan or a square cake pan, and allowing for the distinction between the use of either the &#8220;old fashioned&#8221; greasing and flouring of the pan method and the parchment paper method;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldshamandcheeseomelette.pdf\">ham and cheese omelette<\/a>, updating principally as a function of also using the recipe as a base for the above-mentioned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsgoatcheeseomelette.pdf\">goat cheese omelette<\/a>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldschocolatechipcookiedoughcheesecakesquares.pdf\">chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake squares<\/a>, mostly for minor turns of phrase, as well as any updates I may or may not have done (oops bad memory, it&#8217;s been a while!) since the previous version;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>shortbread cookies, again mostly for minor turns of phrase, as well as dividing some &#8220;multi-step&#8221; instructions, and fleshing out a number of implied steps (call my recipe style ridiculously verbose and overly detailed &#8230; in order to &#8230; live up to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/blog\/index.php\/2011\/01\/30\/fudcon-2011-lightning-talks\/\">a lesson<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/blog\/fudcon2011\/melslightningtalk.pdf\">learned at a computer conference<\/a> I attended in 2011. \ud83d\ude42 )<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>20260105 updated:  The recipe for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsmomsroastpotatoes.pdf\">roast potatoes<\/a> was updated yesterday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Happy cooking!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PS:  as a personal reference, I have made seven batches of chocolate buttercrunch  &#8212; representing 3-1\/2 pounds of butter, over 4-1\/2 pounds of chocolate, over 3-3\/4 pounds of sugar, and over 200mL of maple syrup &#8212; over the past roughly two weeks, to plan for Christmas giveaways.
