{"id":2642,"date":"2021-02-21T13:22:24","date_gmt":"2021-02-21T13:22:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/blog\/?p=2642"},"modified":"2024-12-22T00:21:20","modified_gmt":"2024-12-22T00:21:20","slug":"making-plain-cake-with-lemon-sauce-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/blog\/index.php\/2021\/02\/21\/making-plain-cake-with-lemon-sauce-photos\/","title":{"rendered":"Making Plain Cake (With Lemon Sauce) &#8212; Photos"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This weekend&#8217;s cooking projects <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\">from my collection of recipes<\/a> included <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/blog\/index.php\/2020\/08\/08\/learning-to-make-chocolate-buttercrunch-english-toffee\/\">more<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsenglishtoffeechocolatebuttercrunch.pdf\">chocolate buttecrunch<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/blog\/index.php\/2021\/01\/24\/making-bran-muffins-photos\/\">more<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsraisinbranmuffins.pdf\">bran muffins<\/a>, and the subject of this post, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsplaincake.pdf\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsplaincake.pdf\">plain cake<\/a>, with the addition of a lemon sauce as an experiment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I came about to learning to make <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsplaincake.pdf\">plain cake<\/a> from scratch after I attempted to make  a New York crumble cake I&#8217;d seen being made on a Martha Stewart cooking show.  Not only was the cake not as expected &#8212; we were expecting mostly cake with a modest but tasty crumble crust, instead of the actual small amount of cake and a sizable crumble crust &#8212; the cake did not bake well, and I was very disinclined to try it again.
