{"id":1470,"date":"2019-11-09T20:38:00","date_gmt":"2019-11-09T20:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/blog\/?p=1470"},"modified":"2021-02-15T03:00:37","modified_gmt":"2021-02-15T03:00:37","slug":"updates-learning-to-make-bran-muffins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/blog\/index.php\/2019\/11\/09\/updates-learning-to-make-bran-muffins\/","title":{"rendered":"Updates:  Learning to make bran muffins"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/blog\/index.php\/2019\/10\/05\/learning-to-make-bran-muffins\/\">I recently took up making bran muffins<\/a> for my mom and occasionally for myself, and have been trying out two recipes:  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/allrecipesclassicbranmuffinstheseworkedfineandareasaferecipethatisclear.pdf\">One from the internet<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allrecipes.com\/recipe\/25224\/classic-bran-muffins\/\">allrecipes.com<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsmomsraisinbranmuffins.pdf \">my mom&#8217;s recipe<\/a>, which I transcribed and reworked to my current recipe format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially, Mom decided that she preferred the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/allrecipesclassicbranmuffinstheseworkedfineandareasaferecipethatisclear.pdf\">allrecipes.com recipe<\/a> (now in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsraisinbranmuffins.pdf\">my format<\/a>) over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsmomsraisinbranmuffins.pdf\">hers<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, she asked me to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donalds*M*raisinbranmuffins.pdf\">slightly modify<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsmomsraisinbranmuffins.pdf \">her recipe,<\/a> by making it less sweet and increasing, we decided commensurately, the bran to replace the reduced sugar as well as increase the &#8220;branniness&#8221; of the muffins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donalds*M*raisinbranmuffins.pdf\">The resulting &#8220;new&#8221; recipe<\/a> is available alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsmomsraisinbranmuffins.pdf \">my mom&#8217;s original recipe<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/allrecipesclassicbranmuffinstheseworkedfineandareasaferecipethatisclear.pdf\">allrecipes.com recipe<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsraisinbranmuffins.pdf\">and my recipe<\/a>) in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\">my archive of personal recipes<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And &#8230; she says that she now prefers the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donalds*M*raisinbranmuffins.pdf\">&#8220;M&#8221; recipe <\/a>(ie. &#8220;M&#8221; for molasses, or I think &#8220;M&#8221; for modified).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(While you&#8217;re checking out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\">my collection of recipes<\/a>, check out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malak.ca\/food\/donaldsthreeingredientbiscuits.pdf\">my recipe for three ingredient drop biscuits<\/a>,  basically the greek-yoghurt-and-complete-cake-flour recipe for &#8220;easy biscuits that you can make quickly any day of the week that is guaranteed to please&#8221; that has been going around the internet and various media outlets in  North America over the past couple of years, with grated cheese added to  it.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I recently took up making bran muffins for my mom and occasionally for myself, and have been trying out two recipes: One from the internet from allrecipes.com, and my mom&#8217;s recipe, which I transcribed and reworked to my current recipe format.
